How it works

  1. 1. Swab

    Gently swab the inside of your dog’s cheek pouch and under the tongue to collect saliva for at least 30 seconds.

  2. 2. Activate & mail

    Activate each kit online and send samples to our lab in their prepaid envelopes. Note: Samples remain stable for at least 6 months. However, kits expire two years after purchase, so please plan accordingly.

  3. 3. Results in 2-4 weeks

    We’ll do the rest and notify you by email when your results are ready. Log in to your account to learn all about your pup!

    This was the primary reason for having the test done. We needed proof of breed to secure Ruby's Good Citizenship Badge.

    The test was easy to administer and Ruby did not strongly object to getting her cheeks swapped. Ongoing communications with Embark once Ruby's sample was submitted kept me informed through every step of the testing process.

    Ruby is the daughter of two black and white border collies living on a farm in Maryland. As you can see

    Ruby did not inherit the black and white gene. We were thrilled to see that Ruby was determined to be 100% border collie based on the Embark DNA test results.

    Best Information on Shelter Pup

    I really love getting all the information on Thistle, my shelter pup. She was dropped off with no history. It was good getting breed and health information. I can now monitor her for any potential health issues and see if she has any relatives close by.
